How We Operate

The Chelsea Center believes in the power of experiential learning opportunities for all students at WGHS, grades 9-12. Chelsea Center internships and job shadowing experiences empower students to explore future careers while learning the value of thoughtful communication, reflection, and creative problem-solving. Chelsea Center service learners practice those same key skills while also creating the change they want to see in the world through their volunteering, advocacy, or activism. Students whose interests extend beyond WGHS offerings of electives may co-design their experiential curriculum through our Passion Pursuits course. Travel experiences are also enhanced through the reflective process, highlighting new skills like navigation or new cultural interests to explore.
The Chelsea Center aligns these individual and group experiences with the WG Pathways to Self-Discovery, and places students with a variety of community partners. Chelsea Center students earn academic elective credit for these experience-based courses.
Become involved with Chelsea Center opportunities by stopping by Room 200 to inquire, emailing us for an appointment to share your interests and learn what we have available in those areas, filling out our Get Involved - Students interest form, or signing up for a semester Chelsea Center class with your counselor at course enrollment time.
