A+

Beginning with the 2001 graduates, Webster Groves High School students who qualify, could be eligible for two years of free tuition, to any Missouri public community college, vocational school or technical school. 

Webster Groves High School was selected to receive a $150,000 grant, renewable up to three years, in order to become an A+ School. An A+ school must offer students a rigorous academic and technical education that will prepare them for the workplace, postsecondary vocational/technical training or college.

The education of all students is important, regardless of their plans following high school. Some Webster Groves High School graduates will choose to attend a four year college or university; others may go directly into the workforce or the military; and still others may seek additional training at a postsecondary vocational school or community college.

The A+ Schools program is designed to ensure that no matter which option is selected, all high school students will be provided selection of courses, career counseling, technology and/or workplace skill development opportunities which are related to their career goals.

The three major goals of the A+ Schools Program are that:

• all students will graduate from high school;
• all students complete a selection of high school studies that is challenging and for which there are identified learning expectations; and
• all students proceed from high school graduation to a college or postsecondary vocational/technical school or high-wage employment

In March of 2001, Webster Groves High School became designated as an A+ School. As a result, graduates of Webster Groves High School who meet the following standards are eligible for the two years of financial incentives:

• attend a designated A+ school for two consecutive years prior to high school graduation
• 95% attendance record for the four year period
• graduate from high school with a 2.5 grade point average or higher on a four point scale
• 50 hours of unpaid school-sponsored tutoring or mentoring
• maintain a record of good citizenship and avoidance of the unlawful use of drugs
• make a good faith effort to secure federal postsecondary student financial assistance funds by completing a FAFSA
• score proficient or advanced on the official Algebra 1 EOC exam (effective  August 2011 beginning with the class of 2015)
