BHR provides confidential telephone counseling to people in mental health crises as well as mobile outreach services, community referral services and critical incident stress management (CISM). BHR’s crisis hotline and mobile outreach services are provided free of charge to the public by paid professional staff who have masters degrees in their respective behavioral science disciplines.

The Youth Connection Helpline is a dedicated 24/7 hotline for youth, parents, guardians, or other concerned individuals to access crisis intervention, behavioral health and substance use assessment, and service linkage. Services are provided by master’s level clinicians and are readily available by phone, SMS text, web chat, and in person through mobile outreach.

The Helpline also has a follow-up program, where eligible callers will receive a follow-up call within 48 hours by a coordinator who ensures child safety, assists with referrals, and continues to follow up until the crisis situation has been resolved or linkage to services has occurred.

Shelters for Youth
Covenant House
Covenant House Missouri (CHMO) empowers homeless, runaway and at-risk youth to live independently and become contributing members of the community. In addition to emergency shelter services, the Center for Youth provides educational resources, job skill development, personal counseling and numerous life skill classes. There is also an extensive transitional living program where youth can live in the facility for up to two years. Moreover, youth with mental health issues who have left the CHMO program (for up to six months) are personally called by After-care Program staff to ensure stability and if essential needs are being met.

Youth in Need

Youth In Need has developed a comprehensive temporary shelter services program, structured to meet the unique needs of each child and teen. Youth In Need’s Emergency Shelter program provides a safe haven from abuse, a “family timeout” to provide a cooling off period during a time of intense family conflict and shelter for homeless children and teens. Youth In Need meets the basic needs of housing, food and safety while providing counseling and other support services to help youth re-unite with their families, when appropriate, or find an alternative living situation.
The Emergency Shelter offers individual, family and group counseling, crisis intervention and case management services and daily educational groups.
